About Us
Denise Kirsten Physiotherapy

Denise Kirsten Incorporated Physiotherapy

We are a dynamic physiotherapy practice that proudly uses innovative technology and evidence-based clinical protocols to streamline the process of getting injured patients back to work and life.

Our aim is to follow a multidisciplinary approach to help our patients live their best lives!

We are also one of the Workability accredited practices based in Welkom in the Freestate. Workability is a team of vocational rehabilitation experts with a growing national network of independently-owned, rehabilitation units.

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is the treatment of injury, disease and disorders through physical methods — such as exercise, massage, manipulation and other treatments — over medication and surgery.

Many people may believe that physiotherapists mainly work with back and sports-related injuries, but that’s not always the case. Physiotherapists are highly trained health professionals who provide treatment for people suffering from physical problems arising from injury, disease, illness and ageing.

A physiotherapist’s purpose is to improve a person’s quality of life by using a variety of treatments to alleviate pain and restore function or, in the case of permanent injury or disease, to lessen the effects of any dysfunction.

Back & Neck Assistance Program

BNAP stands for Back & Neck Assistance Program and is Workability’s functional rehabilitation program used by accredited physiotherapists, occupational therapists and doctors.

BNAP is an evidence based and active rehabilitation program aimed to help patients living with chronic back and neck pain to improve function, treat the cause of their pain and improve their quality of life.

Denise Kirsten

I am the principal physiotherapist at Denise Kirsten Incorporated and completed my degree at UFS and started my career at Ernest Oppenheimer Hospital (Anglogold) in Welkom in 1996. I gained experience

in spinal cord injuries, neurological conditions, hand injuries, orthopedic, injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.

I completed my post graduate studies in OMT1 in Bloemfontein in 2001 and started my Sport & Orthopaedic practice in 2005 and we have grown over the past 18 years to a staff of 2 physiotherapists, 2 administrative personnel and 1 general worker. In hospital we treat ICU, orthopedic, pediatric, surgical, and medical

patients. In our practice we treat sport injuries, neurological and musculoskeletal conditions.

In my free time I love photography and spending time with my family I also love the outdoors and travelling.

We believe in affordable physiotherapy for all.
